This painting shows a scene in the beautiful Tuscan City Siena. When I visited Siena, there were these flags everywhere from red to yellow to Green like in this painting. Each part or rather district of the city has its own flag. Twice a year the big and famous Horse race Il Palio is held in Siena where these flags are used to represent the Contrade of the different districts of the City. In this painting you can see the flag of the team Oca (Goose).
